My Services

If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be. — Maya Angelou

I believe we all can go beyond our challenges, learn from our struggles, and become happier and healthier in the process.

With my help, you will be able to find solutions for navigating loss, reducing anxiety, lifting depression, improving self-esteem, developing healthy coping skills, and more. I have a warm and interactive style and use a client-centered approach where we work together to address your challenges. I consider how family, environment, and life experiences can impact your mental and emotional functioning.

I am an EMDRIA-trained EMDR therapist and a Certified Grief Counseling Specialist.  I also have training in suicide bereavement from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. My expertise includes training in crisis intervention, specifically in the areas of suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention, as well as domestic violence. I’ve been an on-call counselor for domestic violence victims and have worked with Employee Assistance Programs for more than 25 years. Since 2010, I’ve also served as a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) for employees regulated by DOT.

It’s been my honor to work with clients from diverse backgrounds, helping them tackle issues like grief and loss, substance abuse, relationship struggles, mental health challenges, work performance issues, family conflicts, parenting difficulties, anger management, managing time in an overbooked world, and crisis intervention.

For your convenience I offer virtual and in-person sessions.

Grief Counseling

Life doesn’t get easier or more forgiving, we get stronger and more resilient. – Steve Maraboli

Do any of these describe you?

Feeling profound sadness after losing a loved one? Experiencing guilt about things left unsaid? Struggling to resume a normal life with grief as a constant? Feeling isolated while others seem to have moved on?

Grief is a natural response to loss. It can feel overwhelming and desolate. I provide a safe space to explore the complex emotions that accompany intense grief. With my personal and professional knowledge, I can help you find comfort and healing as you navigate life after your loss. I listen with empathy, help you address unhealthy thoughts and behaviors, and teach techniques to manage distress. Together, we can reintegrate grief into your new life and focus on cherishing the love and memories you shared, rather than solely on the pain of your loved one’s departure. My goal is to support you in processing your loss healthily and meaningfully.

Suicide Bereavement

It is impossible for you to go on as you were before, so you must go on as you never have.  - Cheryl Strayed

Have you lost a loved one to suicide and struggle to find someone who understands? Grieving the death of a loved one is never, ever easy. Suicide, however, has been described as a death like no other.

Survivors of suicide loss often experience complicated grief, they are also prone to developing symptoms of depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Suicide loss survivors often feel significant guilt and responsibility for the suicide. They can also feel abandoned and betrayed by the deceased. Well-meaning friends, family members, and therapists may not fully grasp their pain. Imagine having someone who truly understands your experience and can guide you through the healing process. I would like to be that person for you.

Together, we’ll explore the wide array of emotions that accompany grief following suicide, from expected feelings like sadness and loneliness to those that often come with suicide loss, such as relief, anger, and confusion. You don’t have to navigate this journey alone.

EMDR

Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know. — Pema Chödrön

Using trauma-focused modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), I help you understand how past experiences shape your nervous system, emotions, and sense of safety.

EMDR therapy is a psychotherapy technique designed to help you process and heal from traumatic memories. It involves recalling distressing events while engaging in bilateral stimulation, such as side-to-side eye movements, to reduce the emotional impact of those memories.

Using EMDR, we’ll work toward relieving your symptoms, increasing your resilience, and achieving the life you desire.

EAP Counseling

You can’t have everything you want, but you can have the things that really matter to you.
– Marissa Mayer

With a background in corporate environments, I bring a unique perspective to my work with Employee Assistance Programs, stemming from my deep understanding of workplace dynamics and culture.

I have extensive experience managing EAP cases, including consultations with management and addressing issues related to psychological and emotional concerns, substance abuse, psychiatric emergencies, workplace conflicts, traumatic incidents, and marriage and family issues. Additionally, I have delivered EAP trainings and educational workshops on various topics for employees, managers, and supervisors at the client companies I have worked with.

Over the past 25 years, I have provided support to individuals and groups in organizations facing emergent or crisis situations, such as employee deaths, adverse outcomes, downsizings, and more.

DOT/SAP Services

Tomorrow: your reward for working safely today.
– Robert Pelton

As a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) authorized by the Department of Transportation (DOT), I evaluate employees who have violated DOT drug and alcohol regulations. In many cases, I represent the key decision point for employers in determining whether to allow an employee to operate safety-sensitive vehicles, such as buses, airplanes, oil tankers, or trains.

My role involves assessing each individual’s situation and recommending appropriate education, treatment, follow-up testing, and aftercare to ensure their fitness for safety-sensitive work. I monitor their progress, supervise compliance, and evaluate their readiness to return to duty. Additionally, I provide guidance to employers on the appropriate follow-up testing schedule for the employee once they resume work.
